Custom-Cut HDU Sign Blanks in Any Size or Shape

Buy only the exterior-grade HDU needed for the job. We cut 15-pound sign board to exact dimensions or a supplied vector profile, then ship the raw or primed blank to your sign shop.

Direct production support

A practical material service for shops without a dedicated HDU inventory

Many small and mid-size sign shops need HDU occasionally but do not want to purchase, store and cut a complete sheet for one panel. Custom-cut blanks solve that problem. The service is simple: specify the outside dimensions, thickness, quantity and edge requirements, or upload a clean vector profile for a completely custom shape.

Why buyers use this service

Built around real sign-production requirements

1

Exact rectangles and squares

Order a clean panel by finished width and height instead of rounding the job up to the next standard sheet size.

2

Standard sign shapes

Circles, ovals, arches, capsules, shields, hanging panels and monument-face profiles can be scaled to the dimensions you need.

3

Uploaded custom profiles

Send an SVG, EPS, AI, DXF or vector PDF and receive the outside shape cut accurately on a CNC router.

How custom shapes are priced

A custom shape uses the rectangular material area required to contain the profile, commonly called the bounding box. A 30-inch circle therefore consumes a 30-by-30-inch section of board even though the corners are cut away. Pricing also reflects setup, toolpath complexity, quantity, edge work, priming and packaging. When multiple pieces can be nested together efficiently, the material utilization may improve.

Raw, primed and edge-prepared options

A raw blank is appropriate for a shop that wants to sand, prime, paint and letter the panel in-house. Primed blanks save preparation time and give the receiving shop a consistent starting surface. Edge-prepared options may include a simple radius, bevel, chamfer or routed border when the detail is practical for the selected thickness. The quote should state exactly which faces and edges are included.

Using offcuts responsibly without compromising quality

Custom blank orders create opportunities to use clean, suitable sheet remnants, but a remnant is used only when its size, density, surface and condition meet the job. A customer ordering a new blank should not receive damaged, distorted or contaminated material. Efficient nesting and responsible offcut use can reduce waste while keeping the finished component consistent.

Before requesting pricing

Information that produces a faster, more accurate quote

Custom fabrication is easiest to estimate when the production variables are clear at the beginning.

  • Shape: Rectangle, circle, oval, arch, shield or uploaded custom profile.
  • Size: Finished outside width and height, not approximate sign-copy dimensions.
  • Thickness: Choose the structural and visual depth appropriate for the finished sign.
  • Quantity: Matching pieces may be nested and processed more efficiently together.
  • Edge: Square, lightly eased, radius, bevel or another specifically quoted profile.
  • Shipping: Provide the destination ZIP and commercial receiving details if applicable.
Common questions

Custom-Cut HDU Sign Blanks in Any Size or Shape FAQ

What density do you use for custom blanks?

The standard material is 15-pound exterior-grade HDU. This density routes cleanly, accepts common sign-finishing systems and is practical for nationwide shipping.

Can I order only one blank?

Yes. One-off blanks are a central reason for the service. A minimum charge may apply because every order still requires material handling, setup, cutting, inspection and packaging.

Can you cut my logo as the outside shape?

Yes, when the vector profile is structurally practical. Very thin projections, sharp interior points and isolated pieces may require adjustment or separate components.

Do you sell full sheets too?

The service is focused on cut-to-size pieces and custom profiles. Full-sheet availability and freight should be confirmed directly because a full sheet has different packaging and shipping requirements.

Can the blank include a routed border or mounting holes?

Yes, those operations can be quoted. Provide the border width, depth, radius and exact hole locations, or ask for a proof showing the requested machining.

Are the blanks ready to paint?

Raw HDU still needs proper cleaning, surface preparation and a compatible primer. A primed option may be ordered when you want to begin with a prepared surface.
